NEW LOW LEVEL technology - LEVERS OF A FOURTH CLASS


Archimedes is credited with having "invented" the lever and also is quoted as having said: "Give me a lever and a place to stand and I can move the world." We will never know whether he did or didn't. Thinking about that made me wonder if he was a "scientist" or perhaps a common man gifted with understanding and inspiration from Nature or beyond.


Never the less we sure do use levers every second of the day without even thinking about it. Our arms and legs are in fact levers. Levers are within us that came from Nature. Outside our bodies we also use levers almost continuously in day to day activities. Everything outside of us also came from Nature, and that thought became quite interesting to me.


"Educated" teachers of today write:

"Levers give their users some form of advantage when working. It is the most common simple machine. They can be found in almost every room in a house and are incorporated into the construction of cars, refrigerators, toys, televisions, sports equipment, and the human body. Teeter-totters, crowbars, can openers, brooms and arms are all examples of levers. A lever is a beam, called a lever arm, that is free to rotate around a fixed point, called a fulcrum. If a lever pivots on a fulcrum that is in the middle of the lever arm, a push down (force) on one end will make the other end go up. Force is measured in newtons. A mass of 1 kg. pulls or pushes down (because of gravity) with a force of 10N. There are three classes of levers – class 1 levers, class 2 levers and class 3 levers."


Some, but not all Scientists and Physicists surely understand these three classes thoroughly, perhaps you do as well, however most people do not. This page is to let you know there are more than the 3 classes of levers presently in common use.


Levers of the FOURTH CLASS provide advantages far beyond present "Technology", current levels of stagnant thinking, understanding and what has passed for "education" far too long. I refer to this class of thinkers as the high-tech-NO-LOGIC crowd discussed elsewhere.


FOURTH CLASS LEVERS = Gen-E-Sys II

All Levers are made from solid Matter.

All solid Matter has Mass.

All Matter having Mass and in motion DEVELOPS Kinetic energy.

Kinetic energy is very real and easily convertible into Mechanical energy which is the form of "energy" levers use in "giving users some form of advantage".


Mechanical energy is what all conventional electric power generators require to produce electricity. Mechanical energy is Kinetic energy though I am fairly certain there are people who would like to think and argue to the contrary. Regardless of one's thoughts the fact remains that Mechanical energy has the ability to do work directly on other objects made of matter. Mechanical energy is also able to be developed and amplified using levers to produce differentials of either distance or force over time. That having been said is not saying that one can "create" energy because in fact man cannot "create" ANYTHING!


Wheels are actually levers, and their energy is mechanical, and as such they DEVELOP Kinetic/Mechanical "energy" in time based upon the volume and density of the Matter they are made of and the distance each particle of the Matter moves in the space the wheel itself occupies in Space. Which when thought about one should be able to realize is actually the Velocity of each particle moving in space, exactly as the famous E=mc2 formula is the way to "Pure energy" as theorized by Albert Einstein.


For now lets stick with mundane levers, namely wheels, gears and pulleys which everyone knows make moving objects made of Matter much lighter work.


These basic machines of "physics" are used the world over to DEVELOP a particular Mechanical Advantage to fit a specific need for a given set of circumstances or application. They are classical machines and have stood the test of time since "discovered" by man, woman or child at a previous point in time. They were good enough to get us where we are - they are good enough for tomorrow as well, providing Time nor fools decide otherwise.


This FOURTH CLASS can be as simple as combining two basic machines of physics into a one piece machine or as complex as you would like to design it. Efficiency is the primary thing to keep in mind when doing designs of machines of any kind.
